The collection at The Frick Pittsburgh includes early Italian Renaissance devotional painting, Renaissance and Baroque bronze statuettes, 18th-century French painting and decorative arts, Chinese porcelain, English portraits, and works on paper by Jean-François Millet. Our online collection database features a broad cross-section of our collection, representative of the variety of objects we preserve and interpret. About the collection
The collection includes objects purchased by both Henry Clay Frick and his daughter Helen Clay Frick, as well as museum purchases and gifts. The collection provides an introduction to the early collecting and taste of Henry Clay Frick, and the development of the collecting interests of Helen Frick.
The collection associated with the Fricks' Gilded Age life in Pittsburgh encompasses both the typical, everyday object and the highly individual object—creating an unusual portrait of a specific family and life during the Gilded Age. The costume collection numbers over 2,000 objects and includes gowns, children’s clothing, and personal accessories.
